Trout Unlimited is the leading conservation organization working to care for and recover rivers and streams and the trout that call them home. We bring people together to care for their rivers and help make our water cleaner and our communities healthier.

The New River Chapter of Trout Unlimited has members and supporters in Blacksburg, Floyd, Radford, Pearisburg, and other nearby communities. Our territory includes most of Giles, Montgomery, and Floyd Counties, plus some parts of Pulaski (Little Walker and Peak Creek), Craig, Bland (Wolf Creek), Roanoke (Catawba Creek) and Wythe counties (Little Walker Creek).

As a part of Trout Unlimited, the New River Chapter works together towards the following goals:
- We care for and advocate for local rivers and streams and trout populations through stream restoration projects, cleanup days, and community science programs
- While our area doesn’t contain waters designated by National as Priority Waters, we take seriously our commitment to conserving the area’s coldwater resources.
- We host regular events, social gatherings and local fishing outings that connect people with their rivers, streams, and their community.
- We strive to inspire the next generation with environmental education programs like Trout in the Classroom and the Mayfly Project.
- Recently we have begun to work with DWR and Virginia Council of Trout Unlimited to identify barriers to aquatic organism passage at road-stream crossings in our region.
We invite you to join us by attending an event, volunteering for a project, signing up for our email newsletter and becoming a member!
